Produced in collaboration with world renowned blacksmith Hinoura Tsukasa, Fan Out is proud to introduce our handmade Damascus knives series.
The Mushin (無心) Damascus series blade is created with an ATS stainless steel core material.
ATS is a high quality rust-resistant stainless steel with beautiful Damascus patterns. The special Black Mushin series have two unique treatments applied to every knife. One treatment results in a black-blue colored blade and the second treatment, TT Treatment (a Fan Out original treatment), results in a harder blade producing smooth cuts.
- As every knife is hand made, each colour is unique and not exactly the same as another.
- Depending on sharpening technique, the black of the blade may come off. Please proceed with caution.

- Born in Sanjo, Niigata, Mr. Hinoura joined the family business at the age of 22 to become his family’s 3rd generation blacksmith.
- Mr. Hinoura creates immaculate knives with the personal goals of making each knife extremely sharp, have a durable blade and easy to sharpen.
- Mr. Hinoura has been exhibiting his knives at the worlds largest consumer goods fair ‘Messe Ambiente, Frankfurt’ since 2006.
- As a world-renowned blacksmith, Mr. Hinoura often travels around the world teaching his personal techniques.
