About Onigawara

Onigawara have been placed in shrines, temples, and residences since ancient times to protect them from misfortune and evil deeds. As roofing materials are now diversified, we are exploring new uses for Onigawara other than the traditional ones, such as the restoration of traditional Japanese cultural assets as national treasures and landscaping.

Yamamoto Onigawara Industry Co., Takahama City, Aichi Prefecture
Founded in 1907, the company has inherited the traditional techniques cultivated by its craftsmen. Using the material Mikawa clay, they thoroughly pursue their skills and maximize their own techniques, and the handmade Onigawara produced from them are truly works of art. Their products are highly regarded both in Japan and abroad, and Sanshu Onigawara are widely used for national treasures, cultural properties, castles, and public facilities. It is precisely because these tiles are made by hand that they drive away evil spirits, bring good fortune, and soothe people's hearts.
