LA VERITE | Art of Pearl
ABOUT ART OF PEARL
The Art of Pearl is a premium piece of artwork that is uniquely designed on pearls. Laverité Ltd. creates Art of Pearl by combining painting with the techniques of braided wood (KUMIKI), inlaying, and base making by drilling. Because no two pieces are identical in design, each piece is a joy to own and a special experience. We collaborate with other artists to create better works of art so that we do not fall into complacency.
Since our founding in 1997, we have made it our mission to create art on pearls, bringing to the world not only simple pearls, but also products that reflect a diverse range of sensibilities. We are on a path of coexistence, aiming to discover and nurture artists who can express Japanese and Western sensibilities and cultural values from the East and the West. As the value of pearls changes with the times, unique forms such as baroque pearls have come to be recognized. In this context, we continue to give pearls a sparkle with our unique sensibility. By combining traditional craft techniques, the latest materials, and the sensibilities of other artists, we create one-of-a-kind pieces. We hope that you will feel the moment of a lifetime with our commitment that the form is tangible because it is intangible.
YOSHIHARU ITO PROFILE
Born as the second son of a kimono maker in Kyoto, he lived in Ashiya after college and later worked for a major pearl company before establishing his current company, Laverité Ltd. in 1997. In 1997, he founded Laverité Ltd. and in order to differentiate himself from other companies, he created the “Art of Pearl” brand, which is now being sold around the world. The pearls are one-of-a-kind, and are made by applying Art to the individual pearls.
SIDE NOTE: 70% of the pearls distributed in the world are selected and processed in Kobe, and the city is also known as the “Pearl City,” where pearls gather from farms in Japan and abroad.
